Dr Gulab Kothari,Chief Editor, Rajasthan Patrika Group, Prof (Dr) Seyed Hasnain, Member,Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, and Dr S Ayyappan,Secretary, Department of Agricultural Education and Research and DirectorGeneral, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, were conferred Honoris Causaat the fifth Convocation of Amity University Rajasthan held on February 8,2014.
While Dr Kothari wasconferred the degree of Doctor of Literature, Honoris Causa, Dr Hasnain and DrAyyappan were conferred the degree of Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa, at animpressive ceremony held in the University campus.
Speaking on theoccasion, the Honourable Chancellor of Amity University Rajasthan, Shri AseemChauhan, lauded the contribution of the three eminent recipients in theirrespective fields.
Dr Kothari, in hisacceptance speech, urged the Amity students to do one good deed every day.“They should consider their day incomplete if they fail to do so,” Dr Kotharisaid. The well-known journalist also exhorted the students to value time.
Dr Hasnain, in hisacceptance speech, said Amity University has emerged as a powerful force in theeducation field. “You find a large number of Amity University students andfaculty members getting shortlisted for prestigious scholarships, fellowshipsand projects. This is an indication of the growing prestige that the universitynow commands,” Dr Hasnain said.
Dr Hasnain alsopraised the Honourable Founder President, Dr Ashok K. Chauhan, for his visionand leadership in taking the Amity University to great academic heights.
Earlier, the ViceChancellor of Amity University Rajasthan, Prof (Dr) S.K.Dubey delivered theAnnual Report. He pointed out the new initiatives taken by the University inthe last one year and highlighted the achievements of the Faculty members andstudents.
As many as 491Graduate and Post- Graduate students of the Class of 2013 were conferreddegrees at the impressive ceremony. The ceremony, which was held in thesun-bathed amphitheatre next to a picturesque lake, started with a convocationprocession comprising Office bearers of the University, Directors and FacultyMembers, led by an army band. It was attended by students, parents, guardians,faculty members, staff members, and officials of the University.
The convocationfunction was followed by the plantation of trees on the campus. Close to 50trees were planted by dignitaries led by the Honourable Chancellor, Mr AseemChauhan.
